Quality: for photos on the web, the 70–85% band is the working range. Above that you're paying bytes for differences you can't see; below ~60% artifacts start showing up in gradients and text edges. Dimensions: this one's bigger than the slider — a 4000-pixel-wide photo displayed in a 800-pixel column is wasted weight no quality setting can save. Resize to roughly the largest size the image will actually display, then compress. Format: photos want JPEG or WebP; graphics with sharp edges, text, or transparency want PNG. Screenshots of interfaces are the classic misfile — they're graphics, and JPEG smears their crisp lines.
